This page describes how we actually work. It is deliberately specific, because a policy that only makes general commitments is not a policy that can be checked.
Scope
We publish two kinds of content: game pages describing the games on this site, and guides about arcade gameplay, mechanics and design. Both are written in-house. We do not publish guest posts, sponsored articles, or syndicated content.
How content is created
- The games come first. A game page is written after the game is finished, not before. Every mechanical description on a game page corresponds to the code that implements it.
- Guides are written from play. Strategy advice comes from actually playing the games, and specific numbers — combo windows, cooldowns, difficulty thresholds — are read from the source rather than estimated.
- Drafts are checked against the implementation. Before publication, any numeric or mechanical claim is verified against the game code.
- Nothing is padded. A guide is as long as its subject needs. We do not expand articles to hit a word count.
Originality
All written content on this site is original work produced for Retro Arcade Hub. We do not copy, spin or paraphrase content from other sites.
Where we describe a widely known concept — the racing line, reaction time ranges, arcade history — we describe it in our own words and flag the limits of what we can verify.
Accuracy standards
- Claims about our games are verified against the source code. These are the claims we can be most confident about.
- Claims about general game design are presented as our position, informed by building these games, rather than as established fact.
- Claims about history are presented as approximate general-interest overviews, not as scholarship.
- Claims about science are avoided where the evidence is contested. Where a topic comes up — cognitive transfer from games, for example — we say the evidence is disputed rather than choosing the more appealing conclusion.
What we will not publish
- Fabricated statistics, player numbers, download counts or usage figures
- Invented reviews, ratings, testimonials or awards
- Fabricated credentials, qualifications, employers or industry affiliations
- Invented quotes or attributed statements
- Claims about health, cognition or performance that we cannot support
- Content written primarily to rank rather than to be useful
- Pages created solely to increase page count or carry advertising
Updates and revisions
Content is reviewed when the underlying game changes and periodically otherwise. Each game page and guide carries a published date and an updated date, and the updated date changes only when the content genuinely changed — not on republishing.
When a game is rebalanced, its page and any guide referencing the changed numbers are updated in the same release.
Corrections
If we publish something wrong, we fix it. Our approach:
- Minor errors — typos, formatting, broken links — are corrected without notice.
- Factual errors that change the meaning of a passage are corrected and the updated date is changed.
- Significant errors that could have misled a reader are corrected with a visible note explaining what was wrong and when it was fixed.
To report an error, email hello@retroarcadehub.xyz with the page URL and what you believe is incorrect.
Advertising and editorial independence
Advertising, if and when it is active, has no influence on editorial content. We do not accept payment for coverage, do not publish sponsored content, and do not adjust game descriptions or rankings for commercial reasons. There are no affiliate links on this site.
Authorship
Content is published under the byline of Alex Morgan, the site's editorial persona. The author page explains exactly what that means and what it does not claim.
